Synopsis: This book is part of the author's doctoral thesis in the field of cartoon and caricature studies obtained from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England (1994-97). The study focuses only on the works of Malay editorial cartoons in major national newspapers from the 1930s to 1993, as a representation of the current status and style of Malay editorial cartoons at the time of the study. It aims to trace the development of the style and critical humour of Malay cartoons by considering their cultural and political context, as well as the history of the press.
