Form & Soul Johor, the name of this exhibition is given in conjunction with the research and paintings of the Johor-born National Laureate Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal that is expansive and refined in describing Malay visual arts. Generally, this exhibition reflects the development of Malaysia's contemporary art scene. Besides exhibiting works of artists specially-invited by Balai Seni Lukis Negara, the exhibition also exhibits a number of works by artists from Johor, which are in its collection. The works in this exhibition may be divided into seven themes or groups: Landscape; Abstract Images and Semi Abtract; Human Images; Cultural and Traditional Motifs; Calligraphy; Photography and Print Media; and Sculture and Installations.
